1 Brio® Parts

info ↓

  • It is a version of our open circular design lamp using “Brio® builder” toy parts.
  • Moving joints are made with regular nuts and bolts (M5) – see standard solution 2 & 3. You can make them with Brio nuts and bolts. But then it will be hard to fix the joints tightly.
  • Use a plastic LED bulb for heat and breakage safety.
  • The screen is made of a hand cut plastic plate perforated with a 10 hole punch (see image). Watch video above for assembly or solution 4.
  • Use a lamp socket into which a threaded tube can be screwed at the back. These tubes fit through the holes in the Brio components. Then a normal M10 nut from the light construction comes on top.

2 Jar foot

info ↓

  • This is an absolute standard Mifactori Open Circular Design Lamp – it adds nothing to the general system. We just liked the use of the jar. The jar adds enough weight to make a stable lamp if the lamp is not too high and the bulb and shade are not too heavy. But if you want to have a higher lamp just put some weight into to jar.
  • Use a plastic LED bulb for heat and breakage safety.
  • The yellow component seems to come from a toy construction set. Origin unknown. It was lying around here in the workshop.

The Mifactori Open Design Lamp is a classic Open Circular Design – it potentially checks all 9 methodologies connected to it (yes, even “support for the biosphere” if you have a small ant farm in the jar or something similar.)
