Interactive Wall Chalk Board

Kreidefotowand

Chalkboard Wall

For the „Frühlingscamp“ of the Deutsche Theater Berlin we made this interactive foto wall.

Dokumentation

Documentation

The Wall is 4m long and 2,5m high. The larger holes (head) are 13,5cm x 18cm and the smaller ones 12x12cm. The distance between the height of the hole for the head and the hole for the arm is

Height of the head (top) x 0,69 = height of the arm (top)

So the heights are:

HEAD: 170 – 125 – 155 – 140

ARMS: 117 – 86 – 107 – 97

We used black and transparent chalkboard paint.

The attributes are made from cardboard from the supermarket and are painted with acryl colors.

Circularity?

Circularity?

This project is actually a bit weak when it comes to circularity. Some things that are in favor of circularity:

  • A chalkboard is reusable per se: You can draw different things on it, it is adaptable to many situations.
  • We reused the wall from last year (no new wood was bought)
  • We encourage the use of chalk which is not as bad for the environment as pens with ink would be.

But still: There are holes in the wood now in a shape that dramatically limit what you can do with that wall now. And the chalkboard paint and the aryl colors … it is pretty much unlikely that they are compostable or recyclable or non toxic in the long run.

So we don’t recommend this project as a circular one!
